US 40 For All Project

About the Project
US 40 For All is an INDOT-led project focused on improving safety, reducing congestion, and enhancing pedestrian connectivity along a 3.7-mile stretch of US 40 in Plainfield—from Carr Road to Raceway Road. The corridor faces challenges like frequent crashes, traffic delays, and limited pedestrian infrastructure.

What to Expect
While no specific solutions have been finalized, potential improvements may include upgraded intersections, improved access control, speed management, and enhanced sidewalks and crosswalks. The project is currently in the early planning and data-gathering phase, with public input playing a key role in shaping its direction.

Timeline
This is a long-term project. INDOT is currently analyzing existing conditions and gathering community feedback. Construction is likely still several years away, but updates will be shared as the project moves forward.

Stay Involved
Community engagement is essential. Public meetings and updates will be shared throughout the process. In the meantime, click on the US 40 FOR ALL image on the right to go directly to the project website, and check out a brief summary video from our April Member Meeting.
